Description

This pack holds the three pre-filter cartridges for a 200 or 300 GPD Crystal Quest whole house RO system: a pleated cellulose sediment cartridge, a SMART cartridge and a coconut-based carbon block cartridge, each 2-7/8" x 20".

Together they capture sediment and reduce chlorine and chloramine ahead of the RO membranes, which protects them. The RO membrane is sold separately.

What is in the pack?

One pleated cellulose sediment cartridge (CQE-RC-04015), one SMART cartridge (CQE-RC-04016) and one coconut-based carbon block cartridge (CQE-RC-04014), each 2-7/8" x 20".

Does the pack include the RO membrane?

No. The membrane is sold separately. The 300 GPD Whole House Reverse Osmosis System lists one 2.5" x 14" membrane.

In what order do the cartridges go?

Inlet first: sediment, then SMART, then carbon block.

How often should I replace the pack?

Typically every 12 to 24 months, about 18 months for most homes, and once a year on chlorinated city water as best practice. Replace sooner if taste, odor, flow or pressure changes. Actual life depends on feed water quality, system configuration and usage.

Shut down the RO system and turn off its feed water before opening the pre-filter housings.
Unscrew each pre-filter housing and remove the used cartridge.
Install the new cartridges inlet first: sediment, then SMART, then carbon block.
Check that each housing O-ring sits properly in its groove, then reinstall the housings.
Turn the feed water back on, check for leaks and restart the system as its manual directs.
