Air Florida Boeing 737

The Boeing 737 is a widely produced and operated narrow-body jet airliner manufactured by Boeing at its Renton factory in Washington. It has been in production since 1966 and entered service in February 1968 with Lufthansa. The 737 was developed to complement the Boeing 727 on short and thin routes, retaining the fuselage width of the 707 and six-abreast seating.  A total of 1,114 Boeing 737-200 aircraft were built before production ceased in 1988. The last 737-200 was delivered to Xiamen Airlines on August 8, 1988. Air Florida was an American low-cost carrier that operated under its own brand from 1972 to 1984. It was based in Miami. The airline started as an intrastate carrier, operating primarily within Florida, but with the advent of deregulation, it expanded its routes to include the Northeast US, the Caribbean, Central America, and even Europe.
