Grumman F-14D Tomcat

The Grumman F-14D Tomcat was the final and most advanced variant of the iconic F-14 Tomcat fighter aircraft. It was developed for the United States Navy as a carrier-based air superiority fighter, fleet interceptor, and tactical reconnaissance platform. The F-14D featured variable-sweep wings, powerful General Electric F110-GE-400 engines, and advanced avionics, including the AN/APG-71 radar. It incorporated a glass cockpit and was compatible with the Link 16 datalink. An integrated flight control system automatically adjusted the wing sweep. The aircraft carried an internal 20 mm cannon and could be armed with a variety of air-to-air missiles, including the AIM-54 Phoenix. It could also carry ground-attack munitions like the GBU-31 JDAM and was equipped with a LANTIRN targeting pod for night operations and laser-guided bombs. A total of 37 new-build Grumman F-14D Tomcat aircraft were produced.
