MBB BK117 C-2

The C-2 upgrade featured improved performance compared to earlier models, thanks to the incorporation of composite materials and a one-piece cabin frame, resulting in weight reduction and improved fuel consumption.  Innovative technologies were introduced in the C-2, including design changes to the horizontal stabilizers and blades, noise reduction features, and an easier-to-read instrument panel.  The C-2 is equipped with two Safran Helicopter Engines (formerly Turbomeca) Arriel 1E2 turboshaft engines. A total of 443 BK 117 helicopters were manufactured by MBB and Kawasaki, including the C-2 and other variants. Specifically, 329 were produced by MBB (later part of Eurocopter/Airbus) and 111 by Kawasaki. The BK 117 C-2, initially known as the BK 117 C-2, was later rebranded as the EC 145 and subsequently the H145.
