Ozark Airlines Douglas DC-3

The Douglas DC-3 is a legendary American transport aircraft that revolutionized commercial air travel and played a vital role in military logistics. Introduced in the mid-1930s, the DC-3 was one of the first airliners to be profitable solely from carrying passengers, without needing government mail subsidies. In the mid-1980s, Ozark and TWA shared a significant presence at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. In 1986, TWA purchased Ozark, resulting in the integration of Ozark's operations into TWA. Over 16,000 Douglas DC-3 aircraft were built, including both civilian and military versions, as well as licensed copies built in Russia and Japan. This figure encompasses the 607 civilian DC-3s, over 10,000 C-47 Skytrains (a military version), and licensed versions like the Lisunov Li-2 in the USSR and Showa L2D in Japan.
