The Piper Cub, including the J-3 and Super Cub variants, is a popular aircraft that can be modified to be a floatplane. The Piper J-3 Cub is one of the most produced aircraft by Piper, with over 20,000 built in the US. It was a simple, affordable, and popular aircraft, known for its good low-speed handling and short-field performance. The J-3 Cub was also widely used by the military during World War II as the L-4 Grasshopper, with over 5,600 modified J-3 Cubs purchased by the Army. Many J-3 Cubs were fitted with floats.
