Piper J-3C Cub

The Piper J-3C Cub was a highly popular and influential American light aircraft built between 1938 and 1947 by Piper Aircraft. It's often compared to the Ford Model T for its simplicity, ruggedness, low price, and widespread impact on aviation. During World War II, the military used a modified version of the J-3, known as the L-4 Grasshopper. These were used for reconnaissance, liaison, target spotting, and even as light attack aircraft. The L-4 could operate from rough fields and was utilized in various roles, including ambulance service and photography. The aircraft's distinctive yellow paint is widely recognized as "Cub Yellow".
