Sikorsky S-61

The Sikorsky S-61 is a remarkable and enduring twin-engine helicopter. Originally designed for the US Navy for anti-submarine warfare, the S-61 design was adapted for civilian use as well. It has a solid reputation as a reliable and versatile aircraft.  Although production of new S-61s ceased in 1981, many are still in active service due to modernization programs. The S-61T modernization, for example, enhances lift capability and speed through features like composite rotor blades and a modular wiring harness. Between 1958 and 1980, Sikorsky built a total of 794 S-61 series helicopters. This includes various models like the S-61L and S-61N.
