Installation Instructions for V-Flow Pump NV12-6S
-
Preparation:
- Inspect the pump and motor for any damage during shipment. Report any damage immediately to the carrier or dealer.
- Ensure the installation site is level, stable, and provides sufficient space and ventilation for service and motor cooling.
- Check that the pump model matches the job requirements.
-
Mounting the Pump:
- Secure the pump base to a solid, flat surface to prevent vibrations during operation.
- Align and support suction and discharge piping to avoid undue strain on the pump.
- Install isolation valves on both the suction and discharge sides for maintenance convenience.
-
Piping Connections:
- Ensure piping is properly sized and matches the pump's flanged connections (1.25” ANSI 150#).
- Install gaskets on flanges to prevent leaks. Ensure they do not restrict flow.
- Remove any protective stickers or caps from the suction and discharge flanges.
- For hot water systems, include a bleed valve in the discharge line to relieve pressure during service.
-
Electrical Connection:
- Have a certified electrician verify the electrical supply matches the pump motor's specifications (1-phase, TEFC).
- Check motor wiring for correct rotation. Rotation should be counterclockwise when viewed from the motor's rear.
- For 3-phase motors, reverse any two leads to correct rotation if needed.
-
Priming the Pump:
- Remove the fill plug and fill the pump casing with water using a funnel.
- Open the vent plug's 9mm needle valve to allow air to escape while filling.
- Close the valve and reinstall the fill plug once water flows steadily from the vent.
-
Testing:
- Open the suction valve fully and partially open the discharge valve.
- Apply power to the motor and check for smooth operation without noise or vibration.
- Gradually open the discharge valve to desired operating conditions.
-
Safety Precautions:
- Never operate the pump without water. This can damage internal components.
- Always replace coupling guards after installation to prevent injuries.
- Ensure the pump is properly grounded and free from leaks before starting.
